Facial Brown Discoloration (Hyperpigmentation, Melasma)
Facial brown discoloration tends to be more troublesome in Black, Asian, and Hispanic skin types. Melasma is a condition of brown discoloration (hyperpigmentation), especially of the cheekbones, forehead, and upper lip. It is more common in women, brought about by hormones including pregnancy, birth control, or sun exposure. Sunscreen is essential to prevent further discoloration. Treatments that can be helpful include bleaching agents and chemical peels.
