Psoriasis

A genetic, chronic condition affecting millions of people, psoriasis is an immune system reaction in which the skin replicates too quickly. Psoriasis appears on the skin as silvery scaly red rashes that are often symmetric, can be few or many, and often increase with stress, infection, weather changes and weight gain. It can involve the scalp, nails, genitals and joints.

Treatments include emolliation (moisturization), topical prescription creams, injections of cortisone, and in more severe cases, oral prescription medications. Importantly, people have improvement with sunlight, exercise, saltwater, and dietary and lifestyle changes.
